Netanyahu: When it comes to Iran and ISIS, the enemy of your enemy is your enemy. Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu - Iran a 'global threat'. UPDATE: Iran: We saved the Jews three times; Netanyahu should learn history. Iranian Foreign Minister Zarif tells NBC his country `doesn’t support blind terrorism’ and `we will never have a bomb.’ 'No matter which side of the aisle you sit on, you stand with Israel.' 'This Capitol dome helped build our Iron Dome.' 'At a time when many hope that Iran will join the community of nations, Iran is busy gobbling up the nations.' 'In this deadly game of thrones, there is no room for America or Israel.' 'When it comes to Iran and ISIS, the enemy of your enemy is your enemy.' 'You don’t need intelligence agencies and secret information to know this. You can Google it.' '[This deal] doesn’t block Iran’s path to the bomb; it paves Iran’s path to the bomb.' 'This deal won’t be a farewell to arms—it will be a farewell to arms control.' 'A better deal that Israel and its neighbors may not like, but with which we could live — literally.' 'If Iran wants to be treated like a normal country, let it act like a normal country' 'A racecar driver without a car can’t drive. A pilot without a plan can’t fly. Without thousands of centrifuges, tons of enriched uranium or heavy water facilities, Iran can’t make nuclear weapons.' 'Even if Israel has to stand alone, Israel will stand.' WASHINGTON (CNN) — Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the threat of terror in the Middle East, in his address to a joint meeting of Congress, saying that both the Islamic State and Iran are competing for the “crown of militant Islam.” “When it comes to Iran and ISIS, the enemy of your enemy is your enemy,” Netanyahu said Tuesday. The Israeli Prime Minister said Tuesday he deeply regretted that his speech to the U.S. Congress was being seen as a political ploy, opening remarks in which Israeli officials say he will reveal information that proves a proposed deal on the table between world powers and Iran could eventually leave Tehran able to break out to a nuclear weapon in as little as six months. Netanyahu walked into the House to a hero’s welcome, as lawmakers stood and cheered for a highly controversial speech that comes during an ugly spat between the Israeli government and President Barack Obama, who has made clinching a deal with Iran a central piece of his political legacy. “I deeply regret that some perceive my being here as political,” Netanyahu said, in an attempt to defuse the tensions with the White House, adding that he will “always be grateful” to Obama for his support to Israel, including much that will never be known for national security reasons. Top U.S. officials have sternly warned Netanyahu not to reveal secret details of the talks, which are entering a crucial final stage, warning such revelations could have a disastrous impact on hopes for a deal. “I am confident we have an inclusive and comprehensive picture of what is going on,” Intelligence minister Yuval Steinitz told CNN, though he declined to elaborate on the source of the information other than to say it was not from American or “other sources.” Netanyahu repeatedly thanked the United States and its elected leaders on Tuesday, using a speech before Congress as a moment to highlight the closeness between the two countries. “I know no matter which side of the aisle you sit, you stand with Israel,” Netanyahu told his audience, which responded with a standing ovation. CNN’s Elise Labott reported that Netanyahu will argue that the size of the enrichment program that Iran could be allowed to keep under the deal, reportedly around 6,000 centrifuges, and its demand to retain a research and development program on more advanced nuclear technology could reduce the time that it would take to race towards a bomb to less than a year if it decided to make one. The Obama administration says its goal is to freeze Iran’s program to ensure that breakout time is a year or more to ensure the world has time to act should Tehran cheat on an agreement. Netanyahu will also warn that a research and development program that Iran is demanding the right to keep could help it enrich uranium, the key ingredient for a nuclear bomb, could allow it to break out in as little as six months, Israeli officials said. Sources close to the negotiations in Geneva, however, told CNN’s Jim Sciutto that the provision regarding more than 6,000 centrifuges is just one of the options on the table of the deal. The sources also said the advanced research program being contemplated would not allow Tehran to build advanced centrifuges that would help it shorten the breakout time. White House spokesman Josh Earnest warned on Monday that any revelations using sensitive information would be “betray the trust between our allies.” AIPAC

A growing number of U.S. lawmakers of both political parties say Congress should have an up-or-down vote if a final accord is reached on Iran’s nuclear program. VOA Senate correspondent Michael Bowman reports, even as the Obama administration braces for months of intensive international negotiations with Iran, it is also fighting to ensure that congressional actions do not torpedo the diplomatic effort. Thatcher's first foreign policy crisis came with the 1979 Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. She condemned the invasion, said it showed the bankruptcy of a détente policy, and helped convince some British athletes to boycott the 1980 Moscow Olympics. She gave weak support to American President Jimmy Carter who tried to punish the USSR with economic sanctions. Britain's economic situation was precarious, and most of NATO was reluctant to cut trade ties. Thatcher became closely aligned with the Cold War policies of United States President Ronald Reagan, based on their shared distrust of Communism,[107] although she strongly opposed Reagan's October 1983 invasion of Grenada.[147] Reagan had assured Thatcher that an invasion was not contemplated, and thereafter Thatcher felt she could never fully trust Reagan again.[148] During her first year as Prime Minister she supported NATO's decision to deploy US nuclear cruise and Pershing missiles in Western Europe[107] and permitted the US to station more than 160 cruise missiles at RAF Greenham Common, starting on 14 November 1983 and triggering mass protests by the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament.[107] She bought the Trident nuclear missile submarine system from the US to replace Polaris, tripling the UK's nuclear forces[149] at an eventual cost of more than £12 billion (at 1996--97 prices).[150] Thatcher's preference for defence ties with the US was demonstrated in the Westland affair of January 1986, when she acted with colleagues to allow the struggling helicopter manufacturer Westland to refuse a takeover offer from the Italian firm Agusta in favour of the management's preferred option, a link with Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation. The UK Defence Secretary, Michael Heseltine, who had supported the Agusta deal, resigned in protest.[151] On 2 April 1982 the ruling military junta in Argentina ordered the invasion of the British-controlled Falkland Islands and South Georgia, triggering the Falklands War.[152] The subsequent crisis was "a defining moment of her [Thatcher's] premiership".[153] At the suggestion of Harold Macmillan and Robert Armstrong,[153] she set up and chaired a small War Cabinet (formally called ODSA, Overseas and Defence committee, South Atlantic) to take charge of the conduct of the war,[154] which by 5--6 April had authorised and dispatched a naval task force to retake the islands.[155] Argentina surrendered on 14 June and the operation was hailed a success, notwithstanding the deaths of 255 British servicemen and 3 Falkland Islanders. Argentinian deaths totalled 649, half of them after the nuclear-powered submarine HMS Conqueror torpedoed and sank the cruiser ARA General Belgrano on 2 May.[156] Thatcher was criticised for the neglect of the Falklands' defence that led to the war, and especially by Tam Dalyell in parliament for the decision to sink the General Belgrano, but overall she was considered a highly capable and committed war leader.[157] The "Falklands factor", an economic recovery beginning early in 1982, and a bitterly divided opposition all contributed to Thatcher's second election victory in 1983.[158] Thatcher often referred after the war to the "Falklands Spirit"; Hastings and Jenkins (1983) suggested that this reflected her preference for the streamlined decision-making of her War Cabinet over the painstaking deal-making of peace-time cabinet government.[159] In September 1982 she visited China to discuss with Deng Xiaoping the sovereignty of Hong Kong after 1997. China was the first communist state Thatcher had visited and she was the first British prime minister to visit China. Throughout their meeting, she sought the PRC's agreement to a continued British presence in the territory. Deng stated that the PRC's sovereignty on Hong Kong was non-negotiable, but he was willing to settle the sovereignty issue with Britain through formal negotiations, and both governments promised to maintain Hong Kong's stability and prosperity.[160] After the two-year negotiations, Thatcher conceded to the PRC government and signed the Sino-British Joint Declaration in Beijing in 1984, agreeing to hand over Hong Kong's sovereignty in 1997.[161] Although saying that she was in favour of "peaceful negotiations" to end apartheid,[162] Thatcher stood against the sanctions imposed on South Africa by the Commonwealth and the EC.[163] She attempted to preserve trade with South Africa while persuading the government there to abandon apartheid. This included "[c]asting herself as President Botha's candid friend", and inviting him to visit the UK in June 1984, in spite of the "inevitable demonstrations" against his government.[164] Thatcher dismissed the African National Congress (ANC) in October 1987 as "a typical terrorist organisation". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Margaret_Thatcher

Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu's Full Speech To Congress on nuclear deal with Iran (March 3, 2015)
http://www.israelnationalnews.com
Famous speeches collection: The full speech by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to a joint session of the US Congress on March 3, 2015, presided over by Speaker John Boehner. The speech was considered historic in part because President Obama chose to politicize it, trying to lead a boycott of the speech. From the outset it was clear that Obama's boycott fizzled as the chamber was full, including luminaries such as Nobel Peace Prize winner Eli Wiesel, and the owner of 2015 Super Bowl winner New England Patriots - Robert Kraft. Israel PM Bibi Netanyahu set a bipartisan tone, and was widely hailed from bridging the partisan divide, in a tribute to Harry Reid. Then the speach launched into an historic critique of Middle East politics and the immediate danger of a nuclear arms race if Obama's propose deal with Iran were to pass. In the deal, Netanyahu pointed out Obama had promised Iran it could maintain one of the largest nuclear industries in the world, capable of enriching uranium with over 6500 centrifuges publicly and possibly many more in secret according to plans by Iranian leaders. What do you think? Is the Iran Nuclear deal a threat to world peace? Credit: US Congress

On March 25, 2015, ANCA Government Affairs Director Kate Nahapetian testified before a key Congressional panel in support of increased U.S. assistance to Nagorno Karabakh, Armenia, at-risk Middle Eastern Armenian communities, and the Javakhk region of Georgia. In her opening remarks, Nahapetian thanked House Appropriations Subcommittee on Foreign Operations Chairwoman Kay Granger (R-TX), Ranking Democrat Nita Lowey (D-NY), and their colleagues for the vital role of the U.S. Congress in supporting Artsakh with direct aid, while also noting that much more needs to be done. Nahapetian stressed: "According to the Nagorno Karabakh Republic, the war caused an estimated over $5 billion in damages. More than twenty years since the cease-fire established in 1994, Karabakh is still suffering from significant infrastructure damage, including the shortage of safe drinking water. In addition, Nagorno Karabakh continues to suffer one of the highest per capita landmine accidents in the world." Nahapetian explained that the support of Congress for a series of seven funding and policy-related provisions will represent a strategic investment in strengthening U.S. diplomacy, advancing our national interests, and promoting core American values in the Caucasus region. These provisions include: 1) At least $5 million in U.S. developmental aid to Nagorno Karabakh. 2) Zero-out U.S. military aid to Azerbaijan until it agrees with OSCE Minsk Group calls to pull back its snipers, ceases its aggression, renounces violence, and commits to a purely peaceful resolution of regional conflicts. 3) At least $40 million in U.S. economic assistance to Armenia. 4) A special focus on providing humanitarian and resettlement aid to Armenian, Assyrian and other at-risk minorities in Syria, as well as targeted aid to help Armenia settle thousands fleeing from Syria. 5) At least 10% of U.S. assistance to Georgia to be used for job creation programs in the Samtskhe-Javakheti region of that country. 6) Language strengthening Section 907 restrictions on U.S. aid to Azerbaijan. 7) Ending the Exclusion of the Republic of Nagorno Karabakh from the peace process: The full text of the ANCA's written testimony is available at: http://anca.org/press_releases/press_releases.php?prid=2422 Special Thanks to the Voice of America for videotaping the proceedings and making it available to the public.

Congress Pushes Obama-Backed National Biometric ID for Americans http://minutemennews.com/2015/03/congress-pushes-obama-backed-national-biometric-id-for-americans/ http://www.undergroundworldnews.com After largely failing to prod state governments into developing a national identification system known as “REAL ID,” Republican lawmakers in Congress are once again pushing an Obama-backed scheme that would force every American to have a national ID card containing sensitive biometric data. The controversial plan, embedded in an immigration-enforcement bill, has been in the works for years, but has consistently been met with stiff opposition from liberty-minded grassroots organizations and activists. While the plan has failed in previous Congresses thanks to a groundswell of opposition, critics of the measure say that without prompt action, the unconstitutional scheme could soon become a reality! John McCain Senator | McCain on his defense priorities for the 114th Congress Committee Chairman, The Honorable John McCain (R-AZ) on his defense priorities for the 114th Congress. Keynote address by: The Honorable John McCain (R-AZ) Chairman, Senate Armed Services Committee Introduction by: John Hamre President, CEO, and Pritzker Chair, CSIS Credit : www.csis.org John Sidney McCain III (born August 29, 1936) is the senior United States Senator from Arizona. He was the Republican presidential nominee in the 2008 United States presidential election. McCain followed his father and grandfather, both four-star admirals, into the United States Navy, graduating from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1958. He became a naval aviator, flying ground-attack aircraft from aircraft carriers. During the Vietnam War, he was almost killed in the 1967 USS Forrestal fire. In October 1967, while on a bombing mission over Hanoi, he was shot down, seriously injured, and captured by the North Vietnamese. He was a prisoner of war until 1973. McCain experienced episodes of torture, and refused an out-of-sequence early repatriation offer. His war wounds left him with lifelong physical limitations. He retired from the Navy as a captain in 1981 and moved to Arizona, where he entered politics. Elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1982, he served two terms, and was then elected to the U.S. Senate in 1986, winning re-election easily four times, most recently in 2010. While generally adhering to conservative principles, McCain at times has had a media reputation as a "maverick" for his willingness to disagree with his party on certain issues. After being investigated and largely exonerated in a political influence scandal of the 1980s as a member of the Keating Five, he made campaign finance reform one of his signature concerns, which eventually led to the passage of the McCain-Feingold Act in 2002. He is also known for his work towards restoring diplomatic relations with Vietnam in the 1990s, and for his belief that the war in Iraq should be fought to a successful conclusion. McCain has chaired the Senate Commerce Committee, opposed spending that he considered to be pork barrel, and played a key role in alleviating a crisis over judicial nominations. Today in 2007, Congress designated March 25 each year as National Medal of Honor Day, which is significant as it is the day the first Medal of Honor was presented in 1863. Watch to see some of the #USNavy and U.S. Marine Corps heroes who received the nation's highest military honor. My cousin Harvey C. Barnum, Jr. is missing from your video. Marine Corp Vietnam recipient. Audie Murphy was Army not Navy. This is just Navy Metal of Honor recipients. Whilst not required, it is an observed custom and tradition for all members of a Commonwealth Service to salute a VC recipient. Even Service Chiefs. The Queen does not salute in the same manner as the President of the United States and hence won't be observed saluting a VC recipient - or anyone else for that matter. (Aired March 26, 2015 on NY1 and Time Warner Cable News stations) A warm reception from both Democrats and Republicans greeted Afghan President Ashraf Ghani as the country’s new leader addressed a joint meeting of Congress Wednesday. Ghani's visit to the United States is part of a larger effort to repair relations between the two countries, strained after nearly 14 years of war. "The service of American men and women – civilian or military – in our country has been made possible by the bipartisan support of the Congress of the United States. On behalf of our Parliament and people, I salute and thank you,” Ghani said. Ghani’s speech came a day after President Barack Obama announced during a joint news conference that there will not be a drawdown of U.S. troops in Afghanistan this year, as was previously planned. “President Ghani has requested some flexibility on our drawdown timelines. I've consulted with General Campbell in Afghanistan, my national security team, and I've decided that we'll maintain our current posture of 9,800 troops through the end of this year,” Obama said. Obama says the U.S. forces that remain in Afghanistan will not take on a combat role. They’ll instead continue to provide training and support for Afghan forces. The Obama administration is shifting strategies out of concern that the Islamic State terrorist group might gain a foothold in Afghanistan, reversing the gains made in America’s longest war. Republican Congressman Will Hurd says he backs the new Afghanistan strategy. “Combat operations have been turned over to the Afghan military, and they’re showing their ability to perform. They still need people to train and equip them, and I think the level of forces that are there – if combatant commanders support it, then I definitely support it," he said. Obama says there will still be a final drawdown of all U.S. troops from Afghanistan by the time he leaves office.

CSIS Series on Congress and Defense: Defense Priorities for the 114th Congress Please join us for a discussion with Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman, The Honorable John McCain (R-AZ) on his defense priorities for the 114th Congress. Keynote address by: The Honorable John McCain (R-AZ) Chairman, Senate Armed Services Committee Introduction by: John Hamre President, CEO, and Pritzker Chair, CSIS http://www.armed-services.senate.gov/press-releases/sasc-chairman-john-mccain-remarks-on-top-defense-priorities-for-114th-congress-at-csis John McCain (R-AZ) “In the face of these threats, our goal must be to shore up the Liberal world order. We recognize, of course, that this cannot be done through military force alone. We must use all elements of our national power, including our economic, diplomatic, moral influence. But acknowledging that there is no military solution, which is a truism, should not lead us to believe that there is no military dimension to the problem—or that hard power can play no role in a favorable solution. In fact, our soft power is the shadow cast by our hard power. That is how we deter adversaries, reassure allies, defeat enemies, and add leverage to our diplomacy"

noodls 2015-04-09The United States Congress is the bicameral legislature of the federal government of the United States, consisting of the Senate, its upper house, and the House of Representatives, its lower house. Congress meets in the Capitol in Washington, D.C.
Both representatives and senators are chosen through direct election. There are 535 voting Members of Congress; the House of Representatives has a membership of 435 and the Senate has a membership 100. Members of the House of Representatives serve two-year terms representing the people of a district. Congressional districts are apportioned to states by population using the United States Census results, each state in the union having at least one representative in the Congress. Regardless of population, each of the 50 states has two senators; the 100 senators each serve a six-year term. The terms are staggered so every two years approximately one-third of the Senate is up for election. Most incumbents seek re-election, and their historical likelihood of winning subsequent elections exceeds 90 percent.
Margaret Hilda Thatcher, Baroness Thatcher, LG, OM, PC, FRS, née Roberts (born 13 October 1925) is a British politician and the longest-serving (1979–1990) British prime minister of the 20th century, and the only woman ever to have held the post. A Soviet journalist nicknamed her the "Iron Lady", which later became associated with her uncompromising politics and leadership style. As prime minister, she implemented conservative policies that have come to be known as Thatcherism.
Originally a research chemist before becoming a barrister, Thatcher was elected Member of Parliament (MP) for Finchley in 1959. Edward Heath appointed her Secretary of State for Education and Science in his 1970 government. In 1975 Thatcher defeated Heath in the Conservative Party leadership election and became Leader of the Opposition, as well as the first woman to lead a major political party in the United Kingdom. She became prime minister after winning the 1979 general election.
After entering 10 Downing Street, Thatcher introduced a series of political and economic initiatives to reverse what she perceived as Britain's precipitous national decline. Her political philosophy and economic policies emphasised deregulation (particularly of the financial sector), flexible labour markets, the privatisation of state-owned companies, and reducing the power and influence of trade unions. Thatcher's popularity during her first years in office waned amid recession and high unemployment, until economic recovery and the 1982 Falklands War brought a resurgence of support, resulting in her re-election in 1983. Thatcher was re-elected for a third term in 1987, but her Community Charge (popularly referred to as "poll tax") was widely unpopular and her views on the European Community were not shared by others in her Cabinet. She resigned as Prime Minister and party leader in November 1990, after Michael Heseltine launched a challenge to her leadership.
Julia Eileen Gillard (born 29 September 1961) is the 27th and current Prime Minister of Australia, in office since 24 June 2010.
Gillard was born in Barry, Wales and migrated with her family to Adelaide, Australia in 1966, attending Mitcham Demonstration School and Unley High School. In 1982 Gillard moved to Melbourne. She graduated from the University of Melbourne with Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws degrees in 1986. In 1987, Gillard joined the law firm Slater & Gordon working in industrial law, before entering politics.
Gillard was elected at the 1998 federal election to the House of Representatives seat of Lalor, Victoria, for the Australian Labor Party. Following the 2001 federal election, Gillard was elected to the shadow cabinet with the portfolios of Population and Immigration. The Reconciliation and Indigenous Affairs and the Health portfolios were added in 2003. In December 2006, Kevin Rudd was elected Labor leader and Leader of the Opposition, with Gillard as deputy leader.
